Chapter 24

Rome, Italy

After hastily leaving the exclusive masquerade party, Leilac and his friend had sex over the hood of the car, on the side road, under a luminous sign for ‘Pasticchiere Carla’.
The next day, Leilac had a meeting with professor Massimiliano. Mariangela was at the meeting. She wore a stunning, dark gray suit with high-waisted trousers and a jacket over a gray turtleneck jumper. On her long legs was a pair of dark red Valentino high heels that made her look elegant.
Leilac invited Mariangela to dinner that night in Zuma, a restaurant in Palazzo Fendi. But she refused. She had a train to catch to meet Mateo in Naples.
Mariangela was planning to spend a few days with Mateo at Belmond Caruso in Ravello, on the Amalfi coast.
Mateo wanted to return to Italy, open a restaurant in Milan, and live together with Mariangela.
The news about Mariangela devastated Leilac.
The professor told to Leilac that a company in northern Italy had developed biodegradable and compostable bioplastic that performed extraordinarily well. But the company refused to supply the professor with the important raw materials. Leilac discussed the situation with his lawyers before going to infiltrate a Parisian club to target the husband of the perfect woman that he met in the masquerade party in the Lago di Bracciano.
